London, December 5, 2017 – Official partner sponsor of The Fashion Awards 2017, Swarovski continued its support and celebration of the global fashion community last night at the Royal Albert Hall in London.

Guests were welcomed by Prologue, an installation by Fredrikson Stallard featuring over 8,000 gold- and topaz-colored Swarovski crystals which radiated its magic on the staircase of the Royal Albert Hall. The global guest list included Adwoa Aboah, Dame Anna Wintour, Annie Lennox, Ashley Graham, Bianca Jagger, Connor McGregor, Erykah Badu, FKA Twigs, Hailey Baldwin, Irina Shayk, Karlie Kloss, Lewis Hamilton, Naomi Campbell, Pamela Anderson, P!nk, Poppy Delevingne, Rita Ora, Sam Smith, Selena Gomez, Stella Maxwell, Stormzy, Winnie Harlow and Zendaya.

Miss Piggy hosted the Swarovski red carpet at the Fashion Awards 2017 with co-presenter Derek Blasberg. The international actress, author, supermodel and fashion icon wore a custom-made Saint Laurent by Anthony Vaccarello dress embroidered with 10,000 Swarovski crystals.

Winners on the evening were presented with handcrafted Swarovski crystal trophies created by British architectural designer John Pawson. They included Donatella Versace who won the Fashion Icon Award and Model of the Year Adwoa Aboah, while Christopher Bailey MBE received a surprise award for Outstanding Contribution to British Fashion, acknowledging his transformation of Burberry since joining in 2000, turning the UK company into a renowned global fashion brand.

Maria Grazia Chiuri, creative director of Christian Dior, was honored with the Swarovski Award for Positive Change for her contribution to women’s empowerment in the fashion industry. The award, presented for the first time last year to the late Franca Sozzani, recognizes and celebrates individuals who have made a positive impact on society, the environment or both, and forms part of Swarovski’s efforts to promote a more sustainable future for us all. The award was one of the three special recognition awards, which also saw Pat McGrath recognized with the Isabella Blow Award for Fashion Creator and Stella McCartney celebrated with the Special Recognition Award for Innovation.

Other highlights from the evening included a performance by Rita Ora and a moving tribute which celebrated the life and work of iconic fashion designer Azzedine Alaïa who passed away last month.
