ASMR, too, is a feeling: spontaneaus reaction of physical pleasure to certain visual tactile or auditory stimuli. An acronym standing for autonomous sensory meridian response, it was first given this definition only in the early 2010’s by the then newborn. ASMR community, that gathered around the phenomenon within the growing Youtube influence. But the safe space of calm generated by the feeling, even if not widely acknowledged, was involuntarily pioneered way before: painter Bob Ross, in his TV painting program, exploited a soothing voice and brushing sounds to create the same atmosphere that is today relieved in thousands of videos.
