Toronto, March 9, 2012 – It’s been 10 years since Canadian designer Roxanne Nikki put on a runway show and Toronto east enders were happy about the Distillery hosting yet another fashion show in their hood. For Fall/Winter 2012, Roxanne Nikki focused on faux furs and faux leathers, balanced by urbane wool for an avant-garde eco-friendly collection.
Roxanne Nikki’s 48-piece collection looked raw and edgy with tones of Denis Gagnon in the design. Womenswear was all about multi-functional statement coats and jackets that marry effortlessly with futuristic takes on the LBD, pencil, circle and wrap skirts, slim pants, and one-piece. Heroism was a key influence for the menswear personifying cyber flights and a vintage heart in a futuristic world. Futuristic retro-militant silhouettes dominate tunics and shirts for the chic Roxanne Nikki man.
« My time living in Paris was especially a turning point, » explains Ms. Nikki. « I love all things French, particularly French fashion design, so being able to live there was an amazing experience. I never stop living, breathing, and exploring fashion. »
Nikki has been dressing edgy, fashion forward stars both on and off-screen for decades. Nicki Minaj recently pulled from the designer’s looks for her new album artwork. Carmen Electra, Bai Ling, Angela Simmons, Tiffany Hines, and Grammy Nominee Photek are just a few of Roxanne Nikki’s fans. The collection will retail anywhere between $150-$4,000/piece.
