Blots, swirls and streaks punctuated a fluid Costello Tagliapietra Fall/Winter 2012 Collection at Milk Studios this week. Watercolour chrysanthemums morphed into Beetlejuice and Grinch deepwater anemones that, when layered with colour, worked extremely well with the draping. With Padma Lakshmi and Susan Sarandon perched in the front row, the boys sent bold tucked and draped body-hugging creation after creation down the runway. If bold prints aren’t your thing, there were some clean sophisticated designs in the collection as well. Very impressed with the level of creativity, the talent, and the technology involved in the tailoring of these incredible AirDye pieces.
AirDye is a revolutionary new way to dye and print fabric without using water. AirDye technology features a one-step process that bypasses the liquid state of dye altogether. Proprietary dyes are transferred from paper onto fabric using heat — without consuming water or emitting pollutants. In fact, the entire process is waste-free: the paper is recycled, and used dyes and toners are also recycled to make tar and asphalt.
