It was just two weeks ago that Quebec street wear retailer STYLEXCHANGE opened its fourth location in Toronto. Located east of Spadina on 326 Queen Street West, STYLEXCHANGE carries a wide range of street wear including some of the brands I’ve grown up with and others I’m way too old to go near. In addition to carrying Diesel, JBrand, Miss Sixty, Energie, J. Lindeberg, Mackage, the Queen Street West location is the first in Toronto to offer a shop-in-shop featuring fashion footwear’s Little Burgundy. This partnership means that STYLEXCHANGE can offer up to 70 brands of footwear to their customers.
With the Miss Teen Canada-World in town, eighty of the contest’s finalists had the privilege of being invited to a 50% off shopping spree at the store yesterday afternoon. « We are really excited to welcome all eighty Miss Teen Canada-World contestants to our new store, » said Mark Batchoun, President and Owner of STYLEXCHANGE. « We appreciate that Miss Teen Canada-World is Canada’s most recognized competition of its kind and we are so happy to support the girls. We wish them the best of luck in their competition and hope they have some fun shopping before the real competing begins! »
Teens, tiaras, and credit cards. A dangerous combination. Is there a better way for a group of teenage girls to bond than through shopping? The girls found some great deals and shopped ’til they dropped – literally. Representing just about every province in Canada, they will compete for the Miss Teen Canada-World crown this Saturday. The winner will have the opportunity to make high profile public appearances, be interviewed by local, provincial and national media, attend gala fundraising events and use her influence to inspire others and give generously to wonderful charitable organizations such as Free the Children. The national title winner not only represents her region but all of Canada for one year—until she crowns her successor.
Contestants will be judged on personal interview, evening gown, swimwear, charity contribution, public speaking, community engagement and photogenic appeal. There are also optional categories like the talent competition and the written essay that create opportunities for learning and discovery, fun, friendship—free from the pressure to win and without bearing on who wins the title. It truly is a once in a lifetime opportunity for personal growth, self discovery and transformation.
