« Being photographed by Mick Rock is now a rite of passage for any emerging band »

The legendary Mick Rock, photographer of all things Rock n’Roll, will make an appearance on the 19th of January 2011 at the Idea Generation Gallery in London. He will be showing live how he masters the art of portraiture, and will auction several of his favourite prints later that same evening.

Mick Rock, the rock photographer of the 1970’s, launched his career with an unknown David Bowie, becoming his dedicated photographer, participating in the conception of his albums and disc covers. This participation helped with his rise in the Rock n’Roll music scene. His portfolio of artists started with Lou Reed, Queen, and the Sex Pistol’s in the 1970’s. He later moved to New York where he photographed the likes of The Ramones, Talking Heads and Blondie.

His tendency for the shocking, the unusual and peculiarly chosen moments of rock n’roll shaped and illustrated the world of Rock n’Roll for the fans and the artists alike. He became and still is to this day a photographer of legends, and an integral part of the history of music.

He lately showed a series of photographs from the 1980’s, 1990’s and 2000’s at the Idea Generation Gallery . That exhibition  took place from the 11th of November and will be on display until the 16th of January. To Celebrate the end of this event, he will take the portrait on one person on the 19th of January, whose name will be drawn from a free entry email list.
