Givenchy presents the essential statement bag for Spring-Summer 2023: the Voyou.
The ultimate in relaxed Parisian chic, this versatile everyday hobo was first spotted on the Givenchy Spring-Summer 2023 runway in the Jardin des Plantes. Part of a dynamic manifesto on urban dressing by Creative Director Matthew M. Williams, the Voyou stands out as the must-have accessory in a collection that cross-pollinates French and American style codes. By infusing Hubert de Givenchy’s philosophy of timeless, everyday Parisian elegance with a California cool sensibility, Matthew M. Williams creates a resolutely modern vision of global fashion for the digital era.

Named for a slang term that means « bad boy » in French, the Voyou is a new entry in the Givenchy lexicon, blending the language of a lady’s handbag with an easy, biker attitude. Its ladylike yet casual, V-shaped design channels slouchy, Left Bank sophistication. A quietly complex construction, in tumbled, subtly grained calfskin with luxurious turned edges, fuses polish with the lightness and convenience of a hobo: by virtue of its own weight, the large and medium Voyou fold over naturally, adapting to the line of the body and closing gracefully without need for fastening mechanism. Inside, a zippered compartment keeps essentials like a smartphone, wallet and keys secure in one place (the mini Voyou is designed with a zip closure).
The Voyou adapts to long, short, hand-carry or cross-body wear thanks to adjustable straps discreetly embossed with metallic « Givenchy » lettering. A play on the House’s distinctive hardware embellishments — a new etched buckle, sliders and a slightly beveled version of the designer’s signature D-ring — give it a cool, jewel-like allure. Together, these elements subtly reprise the House’s ‘V’ emblem while also accentuating the glossy, tactile finish of the leather, giving any look a dash of Parisian nonchalance, by day or by night.
The Givenchy Voyou is available in three sizes – mini, medium, and large – and a variety of timeless or seasonal colors and materials, from tumbled leather to special editions in metallized leather, soft crafted denim and an elevated version in satin and strass.
Voyou is available in black, ivory, silk pink or mint green tumbled leather; gunmetal laminated textured leather (medium); leather-free crafted denim (medium); and in silver leather and satin embellished with silvery strass (mini).
Prices, in tumbled leather: 1,350 euros (mini), 1,850 euros (medium), 2,200 euros (large).
Special editions: 2,050 euros (silver leather, medium); 1,750 euros (silver strass evening mini); 1,950 euros (denim, medium).
