London Fashion Week – Jasper Conran AW12

Jasper Conran remained faithful to his signature style and Autumn Winter palette for this collection, dominated by hues of black, beige, camel, chocolate, copper, oatmeal, sometimes declined from head to toes.

The austere cut of most garments and the severity generated by the monochromatic looks and an almost total absence of prints, were magnified by the model’s hair, worn either very short or in simple and elegant low buns.

The designer put emphasis on the skirts, often oversized, and explored tulip shapes and draped details, also applied to the oversized coats.  Some dresses, with their pencil line, below the knee length, square or sculpted neck and structured shoulders, would be absolutely perfect to wear to the office – a Mad Men-like office, that is.

One of the most dramatic pieces was a fantastic long dress in black, draped like a kimono and held together with a large black leather belt. Worn with a low bun laying bare the neck, it brought a goddess touch and timeless elegance to the silhouette.

Another highlight of this Autumn Winter collection was a tulip-shaped playful dress consisting of an under dress in nude satin and top layer of black tulle with oversized embroidered dots. As in previous collections, sequins in bronze or chocolate were used on classiccly cut tops or dresses, for a more refined touch.
