MARNI FALL/WINTER 2022 VOL.2
MARNI FALL/WINTER 2022 VOL.2
Marni Fall/Winter 2022 Vol.2 – Collection notes. A collection about courage, time and feelings, condensed in objects of affection that are kept, cherished, mended. Objects that are like an identity card for each of the protagonists of the show: talismans to which their courage is attached.
All living under one roof, the Marni roof, sharing the same wardrobe but each one wearing it their own way and mixing with their objects of affection. The collection is about this endless mingling of old and new, personal and shared. It is made of objects inspired by tradition, mended objects, objects that seem to have been stolen from a museum, all jumbled together.
Big coats, big crombies, big jackets. Shrunken jackets. Shredded dresses, shredded shirts, shredded trousers. Mended jumpers, outsized jumpers, jumpers with sleeves dangling to the floor. Trousers falling off. Sartorial suits are completely handmade by Attolini, capturing the emotion of tradition in the touch of the hand, defying mechanical reproduction. Like spectrograms, the words of Dan Colen and Lexie Smith bring a secret code within mending. Mending and stitching everywhere, making old things new, keeping them together with a gesture of affection. Spiky pumps, spiky boots, spiky bags.
Objects woven into the hair and assembled into jewelry.
Objects one holds on to, with courage and affection.
