Les 24 Heures du Mans furent riches en émotion pour les partenaires Richard Mille. Sébastien Buemi remporte la course en LMP1 pour la 3e fois consécutives au volant de la Toyota TS050 Hybrid.
« C’est un sentiment assez exceptionnel de se dire qu’on a gagné trois fois Le Mans. On est passé par tous les états durant la course. On a rencontré de nombreux problèmes au début avec une crevaison, des problèmes de freins. On a perdu deux tours au moment du safety lors du changement des pièces. On s’est alors dit que c’était fini pour la victoire. Et quelques heures plus tard, la chance tourne en notre faveur, et nous finissons par gagner la course. C’est encore une fois la preuve que les 24 Heures peuvent se jouer jusqu’au bout. » Sébastien Buemi
Pour sa première participation, le Richard Mille Racing Team était au centre de toutes les attentions avec son trio 100 % novice et féminin et a réalisé une course sans faute pour terminer 9e de la catégorie LMP2 et 13e au classement général.
Fort de cette première expérience réussie sur la mythique classique sarthoise, le Richard Mille Racing Team donne déjà rendez-vous dans neuf mois pour tenter de nouvelles performances ! Avant cela, Beitske Visser, Sophia Flörsch et Tatiana Calderón retrouveront le volant à Monza (9-11 octobre) pour l’avant-dernière manche de la saison 2020 d’European Le Mans Series.
