“If the stars should appear one night in a thousand years, how would men believe and adore; and preserve for many generations the remembrance of the City of God which had been shown! But every night come out these envoys of beauty, and light the universe with their admonishing smile.”
– Ralph Waldo Emerson.

The act of stargazing is a cinematic experience; celestial elements in a state of dynamism- vividly painting a riveting portrait of that City of God. The gentleness of the sky paved the way to realizing this collection that draws parallels from our couture collection. With keen intention, we chose to nurture the story and thematic interpretations explored for couture. From a sunlit sky graced by airy clouds to starry nights to the mysterious artistry of ocean beds, all played muse to the vision for this collection in our signature language of hand embroidery.

The need for refinement preceded the need for the new. Home embodies a distinct perspective this season. Pivoted around the visuals of a glorious night sky; colours like midnight blue, charcoal gray, sapphire, azure and mauve come alive through sequins, beads, silken threads on wearable and versatile fabrics like lightweight felt, crepe and organza. The inclusive spirit of easy-to-wear clothes enabled a sort of diversification of couture techniques. Shape-shifting dresses and gowns in hand embroidered flora and fauna, crafted to meet the unbridled imagination of couture, are translated into blazers, tops, trousers, knee length skirts that are functional yet instilled with a unique essence of craftsmanship. The transition from custom making couture pieces to developing a sizing friendly curation of separates, that are easy to maintain, drove the design process.

People are at the core of the process and the philosophy of “slowness in fashion” is an integral part of our identity. Recurring interpretations enable our community of artisans in India to nurture their craft and ensure sustained employment. Months of development of embroidery techniques, material exploration and building of a colour story, in preparation for our couture show, gave birth to a continued narrative for this collection.

Enhancing accessibility to hand crafted easy-to-wear pieces, the collection represents fashion that is engaging, allows employment at the grass root level and connects our buyers and patrons to true craftsmanship.
