ANTICIPATION OF A POST COLLAPSE COMMUNITY

Andrea Crews inception considers clothing as a medium in its sociological, emotional and plastic dimensions. The presentation of this collection carries an eco-philosophical message that underlies the brand’s approach since its creation.

For this FW20 collection core, Andrea Crews places and appropriates itself two controversial animal products: leather and angora.
Cowskin and rabbit hairs had experienced their heyday in the 80’s. Trend from a past era, they became rags, stocked for years, stored in plastic bundles, and finally delivered to Andrea Crews’ studio. There, they have been upcycled: cleaned, cut, assembled, the clothes are transformed by hands into unique pieces. A second life is given through a creative and circular process.

Upcycling processes were chosen accordingly to the materials and their adaptability. Vintage leathers become patchwork, and adapt to Andrea Crews’ iconic streetwear shapes: oversized: sweaters, baggy, jackets, basketball, shorts… Reshaped handbags are transformed into purses, baguette bag or armors.
Angora wool has been twisted during a workshop with students of the Ensad Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Arts Décoratifs, with whom were shared our unique techniques of upcycling. This participative pedagogical device enables us to transmit our know-how and enrich our creative process through interactions with students.

Ana Castillo, committed artist has painted clothes on clothes, between “mise en abyme” and optical illusion, the looks are multiplied as in an endless mirror.

This season, a radical proposal, replaces the classic runway: performance in a disenchanted after party mood. A giant wave consisting of an accumulation of mirrors invades space like a tsunami, it is the reflection of our era, narcissistic and dangerous.

Models are forming a neo & techno horde, they regroup themselves on the catwalk facing the wreck, like a life-size “Raft of the Medusa » reflected in the deforming mirror. At the heart of it, a musical performance by Bella Baguena, transgender and telluric, invites us to deeply introspect in order to find the resources of a profound transformation.
