Jasper Conran offered this season a collection well off the beaten paths of the lady like silhouettes we got used to. When we entered the show space, with artificial grass on the floor as a catwalk, and psychedelic neon flowers on the walls, it was clear we were in for something different. And the show certainly lived up to the audience’s expectations.
The collection was recreational, fun and relaxed, with a strong flower power meets cow boy feel to it. Models evolved barefoot on the catwalk with their hair either floating freely on their shoulders or pinned up in loose buns. Suede and denim were omnipresent, from very short shorts or skirts teamed with large leather belts, to jeans and cropped sleeveless jackets, all embellished with western patterns.
Really cute flower and cherry prints, psychedelic patterns, gingham and sailor stripes also made a fantastic statement, enjoining us to have fun and make the most of summertime – particularly when declined in such bold colours, from bright pinks to lemon yellows, neon orange, watery greens, etc.
This season’s collection also includes fantastic sequined mini-dresses. It has everything you need after a beautiful day at the beach and just before heading for a cocktail – a very simple shape, like a long loose vest, simply embellished with sequins for the eveningwear touch.
The final dress of the show was quite impressive, offering a colourful patchwork print all over the floor length full shirt and bustier – a perfect hippy ending to the show.
