British-Brazilian designer duo Clements Ribeiro took us for a summer walk down the Seine with Suzy Bishop, the rebellious teen heroine of Wes Anderson’s movie ‘Moonrise Kingdom’.
With the movie being set in the mid-Sixties, and Suzy in love with the style of French Resistance heroines, the whole collection was a true retro feast, as the designers dived in the house’s archives. The result is delightfully refreshing, combining rainbow stripe knits with checked knee-length skirts, or floxglove prints on fluid skirts and capri pants. Everything clash beautifully, in a palette of pale bright blue, taupe, red, black and white. Embellished claudine collars and black, red or silver jelly shoes complete this summery retro look.
The collection also included an oh-so-pretty outfit with sheer polka-dot blouse and skirt teamed with cat eye sunglasses.
Have I mentioned the soundtrack? Featuring Francoise Hardy’s ‘Le Temps de l’Amour’ – another reference to the movie, it was a real treat and managed to give us, for a few moments, the wonderful illusion that summer and the time of insouciance were back.
