Delicacy, lightness, transparency, sparkle, luxury, calm and pleasure, these are some of the words that come to mind about Alice Temperley’s Autumn/Winter 2011 collection, « The Infolding Picture ».

Taking place in the grandiose decor of the Grand Atrium at the British Museum, the show was part of the celebration of Temperley’s 10 years in fashion, but also of her return to London Fashion Week, after six years of presenting her collections in New York.

Revisiting the brand’s heritage, the designer stuck to her signatures, notably the 1920’s style evening gowns. Inspired by decorated Venetian fans, the craftsmanship is really impressive and the collection full of extravagant visual references. Incredibly delicate stitch work and embroideries, luxurious silks and satins are declined in a soft palette of champagne, cream and mink with bursts of Venetian red.

Delicate tulle dresses, elongated silhouettes in draped satin dresses, fluid silk jumpsuits, this collection is breathtaking and utterly feminine.
